More Suprising, Cheifs 7-0, or Redskins 2-4?

Robert Griffin III, Evan Vucci/AP

The Chiefs are very good this year. Their offense is filled with stars, like Jamaal Charles, Dwayne Bowe, Donnie Avery, and Alex Smith. Alex Smith this year has been superb; he has thrown 4 interceptions, but he has also thrown 7 touchdown passes. As for the Redskins, they are having a horrific year, since Robert Griffin III has suffered his knee injury last year in the play-offs, he hasn't been the same, as well as the rest of the offense. RGIII has been a turnover machine this year, as he has thrown 6 interceptions and fumbled 7 times. Alfred Morris as been nowhere close to how he played last year which helped RGII run the offense. The Redskins need these two guys to step up in order for them to have a chance at winning the NFC East.

The Chiefs' next game is on October 27th @ 1:00 PM ET against the Cleveland Browns. The Redskins' next game is on October 27th as well, @ 4:25 PM ET against the Denver Broncos.

Notre Dame Holds Off USC 14-10

Stephon Tuitt, via http://walterfootball.com/

I was on the edge of my seat for this game on Saturday. Notre Dame made this game a lot closer than it should have been. USC only beat Utah State by three points 4 weeks ago. This game was close because Notre Dame's quarterback Tommy Rees was injured with a neck injury in the 3rd quarter. Backup quarterback Andrew Hendrix came in. Hendrix fits the Notre Dame playbook very well because Notre Dame runs a pistol offense and we spread our receivers out. In a pistol formation offense the offense runs a lot of option and read option which fits Hendrix well because he is awful at throwing.

USC should have won this game, because their kicker Andre Heidari was 1-4 in field goal opportunities. USC only lost by 4, if Heidari made more than half of his field goals then USC would have won. Notre Dame's next game is at Air Force 10/26 @ 5:00 PM ET. USC's next game is 10/26 @ 4:00 PM ET against Utah.

The Indianapolis Colts have started the season off 4-2, which gives them a .667 winning percentage, which holds them at the top of the NFC South. Trent Richardson was traded by the Browns to the Colts in week 3 of the NFL season. In four games Richardson has 61 carries for 191 yards. The Colts have been a passing team since Peyton Manning was drafted in 1998, but Manning left the Colts before last season. Andrew Luck has continued Manning’s legacy though, and the Colts are still a passing team. The Colts really need to have a good running game if they want to have a chance at a Super Bowl championship.

If Trent Richardson would like to keep his job in Indianapolis, then he needs to start running like he did back when he played with Alabama. In October, Trent only has 296 yards on the ground, most running backs get that in 2 games. Colts are really in trouble if Trent gets hurt because their backup running back Ahmad Bradshaw is injured and he has been a big piece of this offense.
In the next Colts game Peyton Manning returns to Indianapolis for the first since signing with the Broncos. The Colts' next game is on 10/20 @ 8:30 PM ET at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Pittsburgh Penguins Thoughts Through First 7 Games

Sidney Crosby, Photo Credit: Getty Images

The Penguins have started the season off 6-1, which holds the Penguins in first place in the Eastern Conference. Sidney Crosby and Marc-Andre Fleury have been two key players for the Penguins' success. Sidney Crosby has started off the season with 6 goals and 8 assists, which equals 14 total points. As for Marc-Andre Fleury, he has a save percentage of .932. The Penguins have to have Marc-Andre Fleury to be successful, because the backup goalie Jeff Zatkoff isn't so good. On October 11th, Zatkoff's NHL debut, he let up 6 goals when 30 shots were on goal against the Florida Panthers, which isn't good because the Panthers are 2-7.

My expectations for the Penguins this year are good, Fleury is healthy and Crosby and the first line are on fire. But there are more people that need to step up; for example, Chris Kunitz only has 7 points, 4 assists and 3 goals this year. Chris Kunitz is one of the players the Penguins need to step up and be successful. He is one of their superstars and he needs to show that.

I am very impressed with the Penguins start of the season. Their next game is Saturday 10/19 @ 1:00 PM ET against the Vancouver Canucks.
